Letter from the Chairperson
Added 2009-12-28
Just over one year has passed since Ville and Sami decided to move abroad and I assumed the lead position of the team. With a relaxing Christmas period I have reflected on what we have acheived together over the past year and also where we are going.
Having been a Vikings member for over 7 years, there is no doubt in my mind that the previous season was the most challenging in the history of the Club. With challenges such as several influential long serving Vikings moving abroad, key players injured for a majority of the season and increased competition from other Clubs in the Capital.
Half way through the new season 09/10 all the hard work put in by a set of dedicated and skilled team members is beginning to show - we are back and we are stronger than ever!
With our recent results in the EuroFloorball Cup Q. West (3 wins out of 4), winners of Helen Gillies Memorial and four straight wins in the South East League, we have begun the journey of the season 09/10 to prove UK Floorball we are the #1 Floorball Club in the UK. By retaining long serving key members, injuries healed and a set of new members we have built a very skilled, strong and diverse team that win matches and have fun. Our training sessions are better than ever with excellent quality, tempo, competitiveness and fair play.
Results to date in S.E. league: Vikings - Hammerhead Sharks 25-2 Southern Vipers - Vikings 3-19 Greatwhite Sharks - Vikings 3-13 Vikings - East Kent Warriors 5-0 (W/O)
We want to continue to win - To win the South East league - To win the GB Nationals - To win the EU Cup Qualifiers West and play the Finals
We want to continue to improve
- As ambassadors and role models of Floorball in the UK
- Get better at marketing ourselves and our partners
- More social events and gatherings
- Define a strategy for working with youth development
We are on the right track to success. Keep up the good work and we will go all the way!
Kind Regards,
Johan |
